One of the books that I’m currently reading is The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone. If you are in any type of business and you are serious about taking it to the next level, you can’t afford not to get this book!
The strategies that Grant is talking about in the book apply to ANY business – network marketing, internet marketing, stock market, traditional business, real estate, etc. It’s also really great for mindset as well as getting rid of all the negativity that is in your mind and around you.
So what I’m about to share with you is how Grant calls them – 4 degrees of action, or types of action.
1.People who do nothing
Regardless of which degree you operate in, they will all require work in their own ways. And doing nothing also requires some effort. When you do nothing, you only make excuses, you’re not taking any action, then as a result you feel bored, frustrated, overwhelmed, not knowing what to do or how to move forward. And the problem is that most people are making excuses, and eventually they quit their business and hop from one thing to another, not moving further.
Those who don’t take any action, tend to make excuses about their condition – that they’re not good enough to do certain things, they don’t know enough to take action, or they don’t know HOW to do something.
4 Types Of Action
2.Retreaters
They take action in reverse to avoid negative experiences that may come as a result of taking necessary action. They are afraid of consequences. They only think about negative stuff that may or may not happen. Retreaters would do anything to avoid criticism, they care too much about what others will think of them. They don’t take enough action to avoid rejection and failure.
Retreaters always over-think everything they do, and they don’t want to be judged by the public. Even though they’re trying to do something, but they are too concerned about the outcome. They are fearful of success and of failure, and of course, of challenges that may arise as a result. They think like this “Stock Market sucks, so I’m not gonna get into it”. Instead of trying to escape challenges, start looking for solutions, for ways to overcome all the challenges that you may face.
The problem with retreaters is that their state of mind is “There’s nothing I can do“, and as a result they don’t do anything at all.
3.Being Average
This group of people is basically 95% or 97% of the people out there. They appear on the surface to be taking the necessary amounts of action but they remain “normal“, or average, just like everyone else. They only take action that is acceptable in the society. And typically what’s “acceptable” is average!
Average equals “less than extraordinary“, and you don’t want to settle for less if you’re serious about your business. Retreaters do take action, but they’re not playing full out. They’re not working to their fullest potential. They’re working below what they’re actually capable of.
This group of people are okay with what they have in life already, but in reality everything is average – their salary is average, their marriage is average, their job is average. Everything is average and they’re not trying to make a difference.
4.Playing Full Out
These are the action takers, who go out there with their full energy, they are working for 18 hours a day, doing whatever it takes to go beyond average, because when you know where you’re going, you’re not thinking in terms of how many hours you work. They are not “trying” things, they just go and take massive action.
They know that with success there will come challenges, but they’re not afraid of them. They are ready to overcome them anyways, because they know what it takes. Action takers know that in order to get noticed, they have to show up every single day without taking a day off. Especially if you are just getting started, let’s say in the home business industry, and no one knows you, the only way to stand out is to take action (even when you don’t feel like it).
If you want to take your business to the new heights, you have to approach each day and each task as if your life depends on it (and it does). This is the only way to stand out from everyone else. That’s the type of action that 3%-ers do, and what YOU should be doing in your business!

That is so true Lynda!
I am VERY aware of these people, which is why I rarely do collaborative work. Not many have the same work ethic or urgency to done as I have. However, I have relaxed a bit and more willing to collaborate because I am around a much better caliber of entrepreneur these days (worked hard to cultivate those relationships). Even so, as busy entrepreneurs, we still have different priorities which do not all jive and lends to idea to done frustrations. Oh well, nothing is perfect.
Exactly Trudy! You should always align yourself with the right people!

I love working with people…YET i am also very impatient when people are given every opportunity to get started on the right path ans they procrastinate…Your Retreaters…taking action out of fear of not taking action. So they can pat themselves son the back and say “AT least I tried”…Tha word “Tried” Has killed many a hopeful enterprise
